Tech Lead & Full-Stack Engineer

Hands-on tech lead with 12+ years in software, 10+ of them at Eventogy, from web developer to leading engineering on the V2 platform rebuild (Laravel, Next.js, React Native, AWS). Full-stack through to infrastructure, and trusted across the platform's whole lifecycle: SVN to Git, Cordova to Flutter, a CodeIgniter platform to a multi-tenant Next.js and Laravel one. Still ships code every week alongside leading the team.

  • Led engineering on V2, a multi-tenant rebuild of the flagship platform: a Laravel API, Next.js organiser and attendee apps and a React Native app, on AWS with Terraform.
  • Built Connie and Cuthbert, an AI pipeline from Jira ticket to tested PR to review, with a person approving every change. Wrote the team's AI coding standards.
  • Team lead and tech lead as the day required. The team grew from 3 to about 9 backend developers and from 7 to 19 frontend contributors. Designed the hiring process.
  • Reviewed and approved 3,300+ pull requests since 2022, about half of all PRs raised by the team. Merged about 2,100 to production and authored 1,000+.
  • Sole developer of the white-label attendee app: 22 branded production builds for Android and web, for global law firms and investment banks.
  • Designed and built the virtual and hybrid events platform in 2020, which became a mission-critical revenue driver during the pandemic.
  • Led the move from SVN to Git and GitHub, migrated the platform to AWS, moved deploys to ECS and built the v1 Docker development environment.
  • First-line support in the early days, and still answers enterprise clients' security questionnaires and reviews.
